Privacy policy
Crewpace reads a few activity numbers so your crew can race. We never sell your data and never use it for advertising.
WHOOnly crewmates in crews you join see your numbers.
NEVERHeart rate, location, sleep, raw samples, ads.
DELETEDelete your account in the app and all of it goes.
Crewpace is run by Abhinav Nair, an individual developer based in Pune, India ("we"). This policy explains what the Crewpace apps for Android and iPhone collect, why, who can see it and how to delete it. Questions: support@crewpace.app.
What we collect
Your account
- The name and email address from the account you sign in with (Google or Apple). If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, we only get Apple's relay address.
- The display name you choose, your time zone (so your day ends at your midnight) and your notification settings.
Activity data from Apple Health or Health Connect
With your permission, the app reads these from your phone and uploads them:
- Daily totals of steps, active minutes and distance walked or run.
- Today's steps per hour, for the day chart on your board.
- If you turn on workouts: the number of workouts and their total duration per day.
- Which app or device recorded the data (for example "Galaxy Watch"), so crewmates know where a number came from and so we can apply fair-play rules.
On Android, Health Connect asks for total calories burned together with exercise sessions; that permission comes bundled with exercise data. Crewpace never stores or uploads calories.
We never read heart rate, location, sleep, or any other health data, and we never upload individual samples, only the totals listed above. Crewpace never writes to Apple Health or Health Connect.
Crews and the app
- The crews you create or join, invites, crowns, milestones, goal votes and which ceremonies you've seen.
- The days on which you opened the app (a date, not a time), used for streaks.
- A push notification token for your phone, if you allow notifications.
The app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Why we use it
- To put you on your crews' boards, decide daily, weekly and monthly crowns, and track shared goals.
- To send the notifications you've turned on (for example, when a crewmate overtakes you).
- To keep races fair, for example holding implausible days off the board.
- To answer you when you contact support.
We process your data to provide the service you asked for. Health data is only processed with your explicit consent, which you give in the Apple Health or Health Connect permission screen and can withdraw at any time in your phone's settings.
Health data commitments
Data from Apple HealthKit and Health Connect is used only to provide Crewpace's features to you and your crews. We do not sell it, use it for advertising or marketing, share it with data brokers, or use it to determine credit, insurance or employment eligibility. Crewpace's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Who can see it
- Your crewmates see your display name and the metrics you share (you choose which ones in the app) for the crews you are in, along with your crowns and goal contributions. People outside your crews can't see your numbers.
- Service providers who run parts of Crewpace for us, under their own data protection terms:
- Supabase (database, sign-in and server functions), hosted on Amazon Web Services in Mumbai, India.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service, to deliver notifications.
- Google and Apple, when you sign in with them.
We don't sell or rent personal data. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
Where it's stored
Your data is stored in India. If you live elsewhere, using Crewpace means your data is transferred there. All data is encrypted in transit.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, activity data, crew memberships and notification token are deleted straight away; crews you own pass to another member or are deleted if you were the only one. Copies in routine backups expire within a few weeks.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: in the app, tap your avatar (top right) › Settings › Your data › Delete my account and data. Or follow these steps.
- Download your data: Settings › Your data › Download my data gives you a CSV of every day you've uploaded.
- Stop sharing health data: turn off Crewpace in Apple Health or Health Connect permissions. Choose which metrics crewmates see in the app.
- Notifications: turn them off in the app or in your phone's settings.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or to object to or restrict its use. Email support@crewpace.app and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Crewpace isn't meant for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app for anything significant.
